Chirag Paswan: "Bihar is My Priority - Set to Contest 2030 Assembly Elections"

New Delhi: At the Times Now Summit 2025, Union Minister Chirag Paswan made a bold declaration—his heart lies in Bihar, and his ultimate goal is to actively shape the state’s future. While currently serving in the central government, Paswan made it clear that his long-term vision is deeply rooted in Bihar’s progress.

“The decision to become Chief Minister will unfold with time, but one thing is certain—I will contest the Bihar Assembly elections in 2030,” he stated with conviction. Reaffirming his “Bihar First, Bihari First” ideology, he underscored his dedication to the state’s growth and development.

Plans to Exit Central Politics for Bihar’s Future

Paswan also drew a distinction between his political aspirations and those of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, a veteran of central politics.

“My father thrived in national politics, but my focus is Bihar. I don’t intend to stay in Delhi for too long—Bihar is where I belong,” he asserted, signaling a future shift to state leadership.

On Political Instincts and Prashant Kishor

When asked about his father’s reputation as a ‘political weather scientist,’ Paswan responded with a smile:

“His blood runs in my veins, and his wisdom is in my DNA. A fish doesn’t need lessons to swim—similarly, I have an instinct for politics.”

Commenting on Prashant Kishor’s political aspirations, Paswan took a diplomatic approach:

“Let him take off first—then we’ll see whether his flight lands safely or faces turbulence.”

However, he acknowledged Kishor as a friend and stated that time will reveal the clarity of his political vision in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Driving Growth Through the Food Processing Ministry

Speaking about his role as Union Minister, Paswan emphasized the potential of Bihar’s agricultural wealth, highlighting the need for better processing infrastructure for products like Muzaffarpur’s litchis, Bhagalpur’s mangoes, and Hajipur’s bananas.

He proudly shared his success at the World Economic Forum, where he secured $250 million in investments for India. Additionally, he called the approval of a National Institute of Food Technology (NIFTEM) in Bihar a significant milestone for the state’s future.

“I Will Return to Bihar and Build My Own Legacy”

When questioned about his long-term political journey, Paswan made his vision clear:

“I don’t believe in cutting someone else’s path—I believe in making my own path bigger.”

He ended with a powerful statement, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to Bihar:

“The flame of Chirag (lamp) will never dim—it will illuminate countless homes. Bihar is my dream, and I will turn it into reality.”
