Yami Gautam Dhar: From Blockbuster Pivots to Mom Life, Her Real Glow-Up Story

Yami Gautam Dhar just owned the latest Grazia India cover, opening up about her career highs, new mom realities, and that quiet drive keeping her on top. She’s not chasing trends—she’s building her path, one smart role at a time, while juggling powerful films and family.

She points to 2019’s Bala and Uri as the game-changer. “Directors started seeing me differently, like I was ready to switch things up,” she says. That led to bold picks like A Thursday and Dasvi in 2022, OMG 2 and Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga in 2023, then Article 370 in 2024—a huge leap. Right then, she was pregnant, and now Haq drops in 2025.

On how roles are shifting, Yami loves it. “Take Dhurandhar—it shows leads aren’t boxed anymore. Great writing lets every character shine, no matter the label. That’s why I keep circling back to Uri and Bala. Success builds on the work that got you there.”

What fuels her? Fresh challenges that excite her inner fan. “I want that spark for myself and the audience. Just keep pushing my best, no endless lists needed.”

Her process stays raw. “I’m prepped on set, but seconds before a take, I’m tweaking in my head for spontaneity. Directors guide the vision, and sure, you always spot room to improve.”

Cinema’s bouncing back too. “It’s a director’s world at heart—strong scripts win. Dhurandhar‘s run proves it. We fought empty theaters post-pandemic, but crowds are back. People want quality and will show up again.”

Motherhood adds the real test. “My support system makes it work, especially family. Shoutout to my mom—huge. A tiny baby on set? No way. It’s your heart walking around; you trust family with that when both parents work.”

Staying real comes from her roots and husband Aditya. “He’s humble through every high and low. We’re spiritual, thankful to God. Good comes to good people—what’s yours might be late, but it arrives.”

Yami’s in her prime, owning her story with purpose.
