Mumbai: Actor Vijay Verma, who was last seen onscreen in ‘Gully Boy’ has said that after working with mega star Amitabh Bachchan, you don’t feel starstruck because it is like seeing Bengal tiger from a close margin so after that you don’t wish for anything else.”
Vijay Verma was interacting with the media at Bombay Times Fashion Week Spring Summer 2019 on Friday in Mumbai.
Vijay Verma shared screen space with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in ‘Gully Boy’, when asked Vijay now with which actor he wants to act in a film, he said, “I had dream of working with Amitbh Bachchan sir which I achieved when I worked with him in ‘Pink’ but you always feel to work with him again and again. Once you meet or work with Bachchan sir then after that, you don’t feel star struck anymore because it feels like you have seen Bengal tiger from close margin then after that. you don’t wish for anything else.”
Talking about his upcoming projects, Vijay said, “There is a film called ‘Bamfad’ which will be releasing soon which is presented by Anurag Kashyap sir. I am doing a web series with Imtiaz Ali. I have only 4 to 5 days of shoot left for the web series.”
When asked Vijay his experience working with Imtiaz Ali in his upcoming web series, he said, “He is a really cool human being. He makes people around him really comfortable while working with them. He has immense knowledge of the craft so, it becomes really easy for an actor to work with him.”
Vijay Verma earned lot of critical and audience praise for his portrayal of Moeen in ‘Gully Boy’, when asked Vijay how does it feels when audience refers him by his character that he played in his last film, Vijay said, “Naseeruddin Shah sir once made a statement that an actor becomes successful when people recognise him by the name of his characters that he played onscreen and not by his own name like character of Munnabhai in ‘Munnbhai’ film series or character of Vijay which was played by Amitabh Bachchan sir. I think it’s a good sign because it means that people have invested themselves in that story and in that world that’s why they remember everything about it like its characters, locations or costumes. It’s a victory of Zoya Akthar that our characters connected with audience really well. She is really good writer and a commanding filmmaker.”
When asked Vijay whether he felt pressure before walking the ramp at Bombay Times Fashion Week Spring Summer 2019, he said, “I was like I want to party here. I felt really good. I felt that this entire set is Moeen bhai’s garage. I am working in Mumbai since last 10 years as an actor and before that, I have done theatre so, I have certain kind of familiarity with stage and I don’t have a stage fear. Before entering on stage, for some time I feel nervous but when once I am there, I feel like this is like my home. I feel very good on stage so, if it is a stage for a play or if it is stage for a fashion show, it doesn’t really make a difference. In fact, it’s a lot of easier to walk on the ramp than to do a play.”
Vijay Verma starrer ‘Bamfad’ also features actor Paresh Rawal’s son Aditya Rawal and Sana Amin Sheikh and it is directed by Ranjan Chandel.
