US Senator Threatens India, China & Brazil: 'Stop Buying Russian Oil or Face Economic Ruin'

New Delhi: In a fiery warning that could rattle global trade ties, US Senator Lindsey Graham has declared that former President Donald Trump will slam heavy tariffs on countries still buying oil from Russia—specifically calling out India, China, and Brazil.

Speaking on Fox News, Graham didn’t mince words: “Trump is going to impose tariffs on people that buy Russian oil – China, India, and Brazil.” These three nations, which together account for nearly 80% of Russia’s crude exports, are, according to Graham, helping finance Moscow’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

The senator said Trump intends to slap a 100% tariff on oil-related imports from those countries as part of a strategy to cut off funding to Vladimir Putin’s regime. “President Trump’s going to punish them for helping Putin,” he said.

Graham aimed a direct message at the Russian president: “You’ve played Trump at your own peril. Your economy is going to keep getting crushed. We’re sending weapons to Ukraine—they’ll have what they need to fight back.”

He also accused Putin of trying to rebuild the Soviet Union, reminding viewers that Ukraine gave up 1,700 nuclear warheads in the ’90s based on Russia’s promise to respect its sovereignty—a promise Graham says Putin has now broken.

“Putin won’t stop unless someone makes him,” Graham added.

In a bold comparison, Graham called Trump the “Scotty Scheffler of American politics”, suggesting he’s about to dominate the world stage like the golf champion. “He’s going to put a whooping on your ass,” the senator said.

He didn’t hold back on other nations either. “Here’s my message to China, India and Brazil: keep buying cheap Russian oil and you’re funding bloodshed. Keep it up, and we’ll tear the hell out of your economy.”

Graham argued that while Putin may be immune to sanctions and indifferent to Russian casualties, countries with strong trade ties to the US will feel the heat. “They’re about to choose: stick with Putin or stay in the American economy,” he said. “And I think they’ll choose us.”
