Jaishankar Drops Truth Bomb on Pakistan and Bangladesh Over Minority Attacks!

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed on Friday that India is closely observing incidents of violence targeting minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh while ensuring its stance is clearly communicated at international forums.
Speaking during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Jaishankar highlighted ten recent cases of attacks on Hindus in Pakistan, which occurred in February 2025. He emphasized that India cannot alter the extremist ideology prevalent in the neighboring country, stating, “Even Indira Gandhi couldn’t change it.”
Of the ten reported incidents, seven were cases of abduction and forced conversion, two involved kidnappings, and one related to police action against students celebrating Holi.
Jaishankar further stressed that India has raised these concerns at the United Nations Human Rights Council, highlighting Pakistan’s poor human rights record, its persecution of minorities, and its weakening democratic framework. He asserted that a country harboring UN-designated terrorists has no right to criticize others and should instead focus on addressing its internal governance and justice system.
Additionally, he mentioned three incidents of violence against the Sikh community. In one case, a Sikh family was attacked, in another, a family faced threats for reopening an old Gurdwara, and in the third, a Sikh girl was abducted and forcibly converted.
Addressing concerns about Bangladesh, Jaishankar noted that India is also tracking minority-related incidents there. “In 2024, 2,400 cases of attacks on minorities were recorded, while in 2025, 72 such incidents have already taken place. I have discussed this with my counterpart, and the foreign secretary has also raised the issue during his visit,” he said.
India remains committed to advocating for minority rights and continues to raise these concerns through diplomatic channels and global platforms.
