PBKS Break Records Again: Humiliate KKR with Lowest Score Defense in IPL History!

PBKS Break Records Again: Humiliate KKR with Lowest Score Defense in IPL History!

New Chandigarh: Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off one of the most astonishing wins in IPL history on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, as they defended a mere 111 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in New Chandigarh — marking the lowest total ever defended in IPL history.

Put into bat first, PBKS struggled from the get-go and were bowled out for 111, with KKR’s bowling trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Sunil Narine putting on a clinical show. It looked like a routine chase for the Knights — but what followed was absolute chaos.

KKR lost early wickets before Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane attempted to rebuild. However, a critical moment swung the game when Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Rahane — who opted not to review, only for replays to suggest the ball was likely missing the stumps.

That decision opened the floodgates. Chahal ripped through the middle order, finishing with 4/28, and KKR crumbled from 60/2 to 95 all out in 15.1 overs — collapsing under pressure in front of a stunned crowd.

📉 Lowest Totals Successfully Defended in IPL History:

  3. 118 all out – SRH vs MI, Wankhede (2018) – SRH won by 31 runs
  4. 119/8 – KXIP vs MI, Durban (2009) – KXIP won by 3 runs
  5. 119/8 – SRH vs PWI, Pune (2013) – SRH won by 11 runs

PBKS Haunting KKR Two Seasons in a Row

This isn’t the first time Punjab have dealt a brutal blow to KKR. Back in 2024 at Eden Gardens, PBKS pulled off the highest-ever run chase in T20 cricket, gunning down 262 with 8 wickets in hand and 8 balls to spare — thanks to a Jonny Bairstow century, along with explosive fifties from Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh.

⚔️ The Rivalry Continues

Now, the stakes are higher than ever as PBKS and KKR prepare to lock horns once again — this time at Eden Gardens on April 26, 2025. Can KKR redeem themselves, or will Punjab make it three in a row?
