Mumbai: Deceased Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajpur, whose suicide has sparked a huge controversy in the industry, reportedly paid all his dues to his staff before he committed suicide on Sunday.
As per a report published by a leading news channel, Mumbai police told that he had told his staff that he would not be able to pay them any further.
His staff members, however, were really thankful to him as he cleared their salaries during the tough Coronavirus pandemic. “Aap ne humein itna sambhala hai, aagey hum kuch na kuch kar leinge (You have cared for us so for long, we will manage somehow),” his staff had said to him.
Mumbai police is currently probing the suicide of the actor. Earlier on Thursday, cops grilled Sushant’s rumoured girlfriend, actor Reah Chakraborty for about 9 hours at the Bandra Police station. Cops recorded the statement of Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who was also close to the actor, on Wednesday.
Police says, Sushant was depressed and was also on medications. Police is now trying to understand the reasons behind his depression. Till now, police has recorded statements of over 10 people, including his family members.
His father KK Singh reportedly said to the police that he and other family members were unaware about his depression, but knew that he often felt low.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had earlier said that the police will also probe the angle of “professional rivalry” which was alleged to be the cause of the suicide.
