“Kicked Out of Church at 12 for Asking Too Many Bible Questions”: Terence Lewis’ Raw Faith Story
Choreographer Terence Lewis recently opened up about his rocky path with religion. On the podcast Before I Became Me, hosted by Rishabh Shah for I.I.M.U.N., he shared how growing up in a strict Christian home sparked his doubts early on.
At just eight or nine, Terence dove into the Bible on his own. He read it cover to cover, then picked it up again at 12. That’s when the tough questions hit. He spotted inconsistencies that bugged him, and even the priests couldn’t give straight answers. One finally told him to leave: “You’re asking too many questions.”
It hit his family hard, especially his mom. “Questioning religion broke her heart,” he said. “I put her through real pain.” Terence draws a clear line between personal faith in Jesus and the rigid church system. Why follow someone else’s take on the Bible? Why not figure it out yourself?
