Robert Pattinson’s ‘Primetime’ to Release in India on September 25
Robert Pattinson is set to bring a controversial chapter of television crime reporting to the big screen with Primetime, which will release in Indian cinemas on September 25. PVR INOX Pictures, in association with Lionsgate Play India, will bring the psychological crime thriller to audiences across the country.
Directed by Lance Oppenheim in his narrative feature debut, Primetime is set in 2006 and explores the complicated space between journalism, entertainment, crime and public spectacle.
The film stars Pattinson as television journalist Chris Hansen, the real-life figure behind To Catch a Predator. The series became widely known for its hidden-camera investigations and confrontations with people suspected of attempting to meet minors.

Rather than simply recreating the television investigations, Primetime looks at the motivations and consequences behind turning real-world crime into entertainment. The story follows Hansen as he attempts to create groundbreaking television while dealing with questions surrounding ambition, truth and journalistic responsibility.
Pattinson also serves as a producer on the film, giving him a role both in front of and behind the camera. His portrayal of Hansen forms the centre of the story as the journalist’s pursuit of success increasingly raises questions about where investigative journalism ends and entertainment begins.
The film marks Oppenheim’s move from acclaimed documentary filmmaking to narrative cinema. The cast also includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine and Anna Faris.
With its real-life inspiration and focus on the ethics of crime-focused television, Primetime aims to offer more than a conventional crime thriller. It examines how the pursuit of truth can become complicated when real investigations are turned into television spectacles.
Primetime will arrive in Indian cinemas on September 25 through PVR INOX Pictures and Lionsgate Play India.
