Aarti Birajdar: How Maharashtrian Folk Art Led Her to Acting in Thodi Si Umeed Thoda Sa Aasman
Aarti Birajdar did not plan a career in acting from childhood. As she prepares to play Vaidehi in Sun Neo’s upcoming series Thodi Si Umeed Thoda Sa Aasman, she says her path to performing grew out of a love for Maharashtrian folk art.
“I never set out to be an actor,” Aarti explains. “Most of us try different things as we grow up — doctor, engineer. For me, the constant was folk performance. I enjoyed singing folk songs, performing Powada and street plays. When people appreciated my performances, I realized this was something I could pursue. I am still deeply in love with performing arts, and that has guided my journey.”

In the show Aarti plays Vaidehi, a young woman from a modest background determined to build a better future. The series follows her as she balances family duties and social pressures while pursuing independence and self-belief. Vaidehi’s resilience and courage form the heart of the story.
Thodi Si Umeed Thoda Sa Aasman premieres soon on Sun Neo.
