DPS Mathura Road Celebrates 75 Years with Grand Event at Siri Fort Auditorium
Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi, recently celebrated its glorious 75th Foundation Day with an unforgettable cultural extravaganza at the Siri Fort Auditorium. The landmark occasion brought together over 2200 guests, including dignitaries, alumni, parents, faculty, and students, marking a monumental milestone in the school’s illustrious history.
Over 1000 students from Classes VI to XII participated in the event, which showcased the school’s vibrant spirit and enduring legacy. The festivities began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a melodious welcome song titled Sur Swagatam, performed by the school choir.
The event featured a warm round of felicitations and an inspiring address by Principal Dr. Ram Singh, who reflected on the school’s journey and its commitment to holistic education. Chairperson Ms. Vrinda Sarup praised DPS Mathura Road for its consistent excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
Padma Bhushan awardee Shri V.K. Shunglu, Vice Chairman of the DPS Society, delivered a powerful message about the school’s future, while Chief Guest Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, also a Padma Bhushan recipient and Chairman of the DPS Society, lauded the collaborative spirit behind the grand celebrations.
Distinguished guests included former Uttarakhand Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi, Education Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Justice Navin Chawla, former Law Minister Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Padma Shri Dr. Harsh Mahajan, and architect Mr. Dikshu Kukreja, among others.
A special highlight of the evening was the screening of 75 Years of DPS Mathura Road, a touching film chronicling the school’s journey, key milestones, and the individuals who shaped its legacy.
Setting the mood for the evening, the school’s orchestra presented Ram Sumiran, a meditative and soul-stirring musical piece. The grand finale was Ramcharit – The Saga of Raghuvanshi Shri Ram, a breathtaking theatrical production by students that combined classical dance, dramatic visuals, and traditional music to retell the epic of Lord Ram. The performance received a thunderous standing ovation from the audience.
