Dia Mirza’s World Ozone Day Message: Global Unity Can Heal the Planet

Actor and environmental activist Dia Mirza marked World Ozone Day (September 16) with an inspiring appeal for collective climate action. Taking to social media, she reflected on how international cooperation has already proven successful in combating environmental threats, citing the Montreal Protocol as a landmark example.
“The ozone layer makes our planet habitable. This day is proof that collaboration works! The Montreal Protocol shows how we can repair atmospheric damage,” she shared in her post.
Her message drew attention to the 1987 Montreal Protocol, which phased out nearly 99% of harmful ozone-depleting chemicals like CFCs. A recent UN 2025 report confirmed that the ozone layer is on track to return to its 1980s state by mid-century — progress expected to prevent millions of skin cancer cases while safeguarding biodiversity worldwide.
For Mirza, the lesson is clear: humanity must rebuild its broken relationship with nature. She urged her community to keep pushing for urgent solutions using hashtags such as #ActOnClimate, #WorldOzoneDay, and #ForPeopleForPlanet to amplify the cause.
Known equally for her advocacy as well as her film career, Mirza continues to balance impactful activism with her personal life. Married to businessman Vaibhav Rekhi since 2021, she is mother to Avyaan Azaad Rekhi and also stepmother to Samaira Rekhi. She frequently speaks about conscious parenting and eco-friendly living as extensions of her environmental ethos.
In times of growing climate anxiety, Dia Mirza’s message stands out as a reminder that science-backed cooperation can create real change — and hope.
