Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Stress-Tested to 2,00,000 Folds — Here’s What Survived and What Broke

Samsung’s foldable journey began in 2019 with the original Galaxy Z Fold, and in 2025, the company unveiled its most ambitious iteration yet — the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Marketed as Samsung’s thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldable, the device comes with a bold claim: it can withstand 5,00,000 folds, more than double the threshold set by its predecessor.

To put that into perspective, that durability promise translates to an estimated 10 years of life if you fold it 100 times daily, or more than 6 years at 200 folds a day. But does that claim hold up in the real world?

Korean YouTuber Tech It decided to find out — manually folding and unfolding the Z Fold 7 2,00,000 times over five days in a relentless durability test.

The Torture Test – Stage by Stage Breakdown

  • 6,000 – 10,000 folds: A recurring “reboot error” started to appear and kept popping up every ~10,000 folds.

  • 46,000 folds: The hinge began making faint creaking noises, although the phone was still functioning normally.

  • 75,000 folds: The device leaked a mysterious black liquid from its hinge — it vanished but reappeared again at 1,05,000 folds.

  • 1,05,000 folds: The hinge crease became deeper and more noticeable.

  • 1,75,000 folds: A major setback occurred — all speakers, including the earpiece, stopped working. The folding mechanism also lost much of its original stiffness.

Final Verdict

Despite the hiccups, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 successfully reached the 2,00,000-fold mark. The inner display had no dead pixels, touch sensitivity remained precise, but the crease was far more visible than at the start.

This real-world durability test proves the Z Fold 7 can take a lot of wear, but potential buyers should be aware of the gradual mechanical and functional issues that may arise over time.
