Anant Ambani has added another jewel to the Ambani family’s magnificent garage — a bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII Series II Extended, finished in the rare ‘Star of India Orange.’ Priced around ₹10.5 crore before customization, this handcrafted masterpiece isn’t just a car but a revival of Indian royalty’s motoring heritage.

The extended-wheelbase model showcases Rolls-Royce’s iconic craftsmanship and innovation — a silent 6.75-litre V12 engine, ultra-luxurious interiors lined with premium leather and open-pore wood, and a nearly soundless cabin that defines “luxury beyond time”.

A Nod to the Maharaja of Rajkot

The vibrant orange hue pays homage to the legendary 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II commissioned by Thakore Sahib Dharmendrasinhji Lakhajiraj, the Maharaja of Rajkot. Known as the “Star of India,” the original masterpiece was painted in saffron and silver, inspired by the 563-carat star sapphire — the world’s largest gem-quality sapphire, now housed in New York’s American Museum of Natural History.

That original Phantom II featured pioneering headlamps that turned with the steering wheel — a precursor to today’s adaptive headlights on luxury cars like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The Modern ‘Star of India’ Returns

Four decades after the vintage car was repatriated to India by Yuvraj Mandhatasinh Jadeja of Rajkot, the reborn ‘Star of India’ now reappears — this time in the Ambani collection. The new Phantom celebrates the same royal design spirit while integrating advanced technology and 21st-century luxury.

From Mumbai’s streets to international auto circles, Anant Ambani’s latest acquisition stands as both a tribute to India’s regal past and a statement of modern opulence.
