Scam 2010: Hansal Mehta to Unveil Subrata Roy’s Explosive Sahara Saga on SonyLIV

SonyLIV, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment, has announced its next big true-crime thriller Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga. Directed by acclaimed storyteller Hansal Mehta, the series will trace the dramatic rise and fall of Subrata Roy, the controversial boss of Sahara India Parivar.

Following the phenomenal success of Scam 1992 and Scam 2003, this fresh chapter dives into one of India’s most sensational financial sagas. Roy’s empire soared on the dreams of millions of small investors across rural India, building a $10 billion conglomerate. But behind the glitter and ambition lay a trail of loopholes, unanswered questions, and one of SEBI’s biggest crackdowns.

The series will spotlight landmark moments from the 2010s—Roy’s audacious global purchases like London’s Grosvenor House and New York’s Plaza Hotel, his run-ins with regulators, and his dramatic arrest in 2014.

With Mehta at the helm, known for his meticulous approach to true-crime storytelling, Scam 2010 promises a gripping reconstruction of scandals, courtrooms, and the promise-versus-reality clash that defined the Sahara dream.
