‘Saiyaara’ Beats Bieber, BLACKPINK & Billie: First Indian Song to Top Spotify Global

Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara is rewriting the rules—not just in theatres but on global music charts. The film’s title track, sung by Kashmiri artist Faheem Abdullah and composed by Tanishk Bagchi and Arslan Nizami, has become the first-ever Indian song to reach No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50.
It’s a massive leap for Indian music on the world stage, especially considering the track has now overtaken heavyweights like Justin Bieber, BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga. As of now, Saiyaara has amassed nearly 60 million streams on Spotify, and it’s climbing the platform’s Global Top 50 chart—currently sitting at No. 4.
A Reel Story That Turned Real
In the film, Ahaan Panday’s character Krish vows to make the song echo through every corner of the country to reach his love, Vaani, played by Aneet Padda, who is battling early-onset Alzheimer’s. That fictional mission has now become a global reality.
Composer Tanishk Bagchi shared his joy on Instagram, writing, “We did it. Saiyaara is now #1 on Global Viral Spotify. This moment belongs to every heartbeat behind the song.” He credited director Mohit Suri, lyricist Irshad Kamil, and singers Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami for bringing the song to life.
Box Office Numbers Match the Music
The film’s performance at the box office is just as impressive. Saiyaara opened to ₹21 crore and crossed the ₹100 crore mark within four days. As of July 28, the domestic total stands at ₹247.25 crore with global collections hitting ₹372.88 crore, making it the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, just behind Chhaava.
An Album That Dominates
It’s not just the title track making waves. All six songs from the Saiyaara soundtrack are currently in Spotify India’s Top 10. The album features a strong lineup of talent including Arijit Singh, Mithoon, Jubin Nautiyal, Vishal Mishra and Sachet-Parampara.
Chart Glory Doesn’t Equal Big Royalties
Despite the global exposure, composer Tanishk Bagchi admits that success on streaming platforms doesn’t always translate to personal profit. Speaking to News18, he said, “The rights of the title track of Saiyaara aren’t with me. It’s with the music label. I’ll only get so much money.”
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara marks the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film released on July 18 and continues to break records both on screen and online.
