Fast forward to now, and Gaurav’s landing a big role as Aalam Bhai in Dhurandhar, the Aditya Dhar-directed spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh as undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari in Karachi’s gritty Lyari area.
Gaurav plays Aalam, a local handler who runs a juice shop and feeds intel to Hamza. Fans are loving his intense performance—it’s a breakout moment after years of waiting for the right project.
But here’s the fun part: Gaurav got so pumped about his transformation that he almost spilled the beans on his look, even to his close pal Mona. In a recent India Today interview, Mona—who just wrapped Maa Ka Footu on Prime Video—shared how she shut that down quick.
She reminded him of the NDA he’d signed. “I told him, ‘Do you remember you’ve signed an NDA?’ Even if you’re telling me, you shouldn’t share these things,” Mona said. She knows the drill from her own Jassi days in 2003, when she kept her nerdy look under wraps from everyone, even besties.
Gaurav had hustled for 10-15 years for this shot, so his excitement was real. But Mona kept it real: “There’s a process to building characters and stories. Respect it—don’t rush to reveal everything. Calm down, hide those pics, and don’t post them.”
