US Tech Titans Go All-In: Over 30,000 Jobs Created in India Amid Trade Fireworks

Despite escalating US-India trade tensions, leading American tech majors—Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix and Google—have reaffirmed their resolve in India. Recent data shows these FAAMNG companies hired over 30,000 new employees in India in the past year, achieving their highest 12-month hiring growth in three years.

According to Xpheno, the firms posted a more than 30% year-on-year increase in new hires between August 2024 and August 2025. This surge demonstrates a more strategic and targeted focus on India, even as global layoffs persist, especially in the US and Europe.

During the same period, these tech giants reported an attrition rate of 18-20%, resulting in gross hiring of nearly 75,000 roles—factoring in replacements and new positions alike. The emphasis this year: capability-driven hiring. Experts highlight a shift from mass recruitment to “capability-first,” prioritizing talent in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity domains.

Top openings are concentrated at mid and senior levels in engineering, IT, program management, and product management. The number of active openings remains strong at about 5,200—about half of the 2021–2022 pandemic-era peak but still significant for the sector.

The long-term commitment is evident in major expansions: OpenAI’s first India office in New Delhi, Microsoft’s massive office lease in Hyderabad, Apple’s Bengaluru campus investment, Meta’s new workspace in Bengaluru, and Google’s unveiling of its ‘Ananta’ campus.

These moves, undeterred by global uncertainty, solidify India’s standing as a premier tech talent destination for the world’s leading digital innovators.
