Mumbai: Superstar Aamir Khan, who had earlier appeared on a chat show with Virat Kohli, praised the India cricket captain for supporting young sportsmen in the country.
“I am very to be here today, I think what Virat is doing and his entire effort to support to young sportsmen across the country is a wonderful idea, and all the different sports are included, so it is a great idea and we all are here to support him” said Aamir on the sidelines of the first edition of Indian Sports Honour Awards organised by the Virat Kohli Foundation on Saturday here.
The first edition of Indian Sports Honours was held Saturday evening at Grand Hyatt, in Mumbai and the grand event saw Bollywood stars Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Sidharth Malhotra, Malaika Arora, Riteish Deshmukh, among others, in attendance.
The initiative of honoring sportspersons from various fields was launched by Virat Kohli and Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG recently, and the awards function was held honor the sportsman and sportswoman for their contribution in Indian sports.
Famous sports personalities like Sania Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Prannoy Kumar, Pullela Gopichand, Sania Mirza, Mahesh Bhupathi, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin were among the sports stars present at the event.
Aamir Khan, who portrayed the role of a wrestler in Dangal, also expressed that he is not working on any more sports biopic but only Thugs Of Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan.
“Right now I am not planning or doing any sports film. I am currently working on Thugs Of Hindostan” added Aamir Khan.
Apart from Aamir, choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan along with some of the cricket personalities attended the event.
Kohli and his girlfriend and actress-producer Anushka Sharma stole the limelight as they walked together on the red carpet.
